The small budget film, Alone Yet Not Alone, for the first time in Oscars history, has been removed from its Oscar nomination. It has been said that the song's music writer, Bruce Broughton, an academy member who serves on the music branch's executive committee, sent an email to members of the branch during voting period. Broughton stated that he sent that email to get his song known. All the other films had a way of promoting itself and getting attention, while this low budget independent film could not. I think that was a very silly move of the Academy to do. Broughton did what he had to do so the independent film could get noticed because I do think it is semi-difficult for independent films to get attention.
